Common Pressure Terms

BFSL accuracy

BFSL (Best Fit Straight Line) Accuracy: a transmitter's percent deviation from the best fit straight line to the transmitter pressure vs output curve (see graph).

Bourdon Tube: a tubular, elastic pressure sensing element. Compound Gauge: a gauge that indicates both pressures above and below ambient pressure.

Liquid-Filled Case: a case filled with either glycerine or silicone to at least 75% of its total internal volume. Protects the internal parts from damage due to vibration, pulsation or ambient corrosives.

Psig (Gauge Pressure): a measure of pressure in psi that is referenced to ambient pressure.

Psia (Absolute Pressure): a measure of pressure in psi that is referenced to zero absolute pressure.

Psid (Pressure Differential): a measure of the difference between two pressures.

Process Connection: the size and type of the connection to your system.
