More About this Item

Use the SwabCheck sterile cellulose swabs to quickly and easily check for the presence of bacteria on a surface. Simply wipe a surface with a swab, insert the swab into a tube containing a special medium with an indicator dye for a specific microorganism, then incubate. The super-sensitive SwabCheck medium changes color even when only a single bacterium is present. The quicker the color change happens, the higher the number of bacteria that are present. No color change after the maximum incubation period indicates the absence of the corresponding microorganism.

Use this kit for nonselective development of all aerobic bacteria on surfaces in accordance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). Each self-standing, round-bottomed plastic vial contains yellow media with a cotton swab secured inside the screw cap. Obtain a quantitative result using the swabs, culture medium, and a membrane device included in the kit. Any growth on the membrane device with Tryptone Glucose Extract (TGE) medium confirms presence of bacteria. Store kits in temperatures between 2 and 8°C (35.6 and 46.4°F).
